The City of Menifee and the Riverside County Transportation Department is advising motorists to be aware of traffic pattern changes around the I-215 and Newport Road Interchange. Demolition of the south side of the bridge will tentatively begin as early as Monday, April 4, 2016 with reconstruction of the new bridge to follow immediately.
Construction crews will shift Newport Road traffic onto the north side of the bridge and the traffic merge will run in both directions from April through October.
In this temporary configuration, the eastbound traffic will include two through lanes, one dedicated left-turn lane for the northbound I-215 on-ramp, and one dedicated right-turn lane for the southbound I-215 on-ramp. Westbound traffic will include two through lanes, and one dedicated right-turn lane for the northbound I-215 on-ramp.
Please plan ahead in anticipation of the temporary increased traffic in this area. If possible, please avoid the project corridor and use an alternate route. Motorists and pedestrians should slow down and use caution when traveling through work zones, near barricades and equipment.
