Pile driving to widen the Newport Road bridge will begin on Thursday, June 18, 2015, near the Newport Road under the I-215. The work is part of the I-215/Newport Road Interchange Project and is necessary to construct the foundation for the widened bridge.
Pile driving operations are scheduled to begin under the bridge on Thursday-Friday, June 18-19 and Monday-Wednesday, June 22-24, from 7am - 6pm.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You may notice increased noise and vibration during this operation, particularly if you live or work near the construction area. Noise and vibration levels will be measured and closely monitored. WHAT IS PILE DRIVING
Pile driving is a common method of constructing structure foundations. To support the structure, steel beams (piles) are driven into the soil until reaching a hard layer of earth beneath the structure foundation.
