In honor of California Clean Air Day, the City of Menifee is partnering with the Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) Environmental Studies Department to present the inaugural Electric Vehicle Car Show and Clean Air Expo. The event will take place on Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MSJC Menifee Campus, Lot C (28237 La Piedra Rd.).
The Electric Vehicle Car Show and Clean Air Expo is free and open to all ages. The event will showcase electric and hybrid vehicles from popular manufacturers including Tesla, Chevy, Ford, Toyota, and more. Phoenix Motorcars will be displaying an electric box truck and Riverside Transit Authority will present an alternative fuel bus. Other highlights include live music from 5mile, food vendors, and exhibitors and craft booths. Experts from MSJC, the Coalition for Clean Air, and University of California, Riverside will also be discussing a myriad of climate-related topics. The event will end with a special screening of Wall-E in the MSJC auditorium at 12 p.m. Attendees may also pick up a free food scrap pail at the City of Menifee booth.
The Coalition for Clean Air annually organizes efforts to promote California Clean Air Day by encouraging individuals, businesses, and local governments to complete emission-reducing activities such as not idling vehicles, walking or biking to work and school, carpooling, and conserving energy. In 2021, more than 650 organizations across California participated in Clean Air Day.
The City of Menifee is also seeking volunteers to help coordinate the event. Interested parties can email Kori Jones at kjones@cityofmenifee.us or contact the Community Services Department at (951) 723-3880.
