In response to the economic hardships experienced by small businesses, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent announcement of additional closures by the State of California, the City of Menifee has released Phase II of the Menifee Cares Grant Program, as part of the Menifee Cares Initiative and Menifee Forward campaign. The program provides eligible businesses between $1,500 and $5,000 in grants to assist with the impacts of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The City of Menifee recognizes that small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and in order to promote their continued success and job support, the City is utilizing the CARES funding provided to cities for emergency response, public safety, and programs to respond to COVID-19. funding to establish the grant program. The Menifee City Council approved the allocation of emergency funds at the March regular scheduled meeting under the emergency order for economic development activities. Phase I of the Menifee Cares Grant Program was first released in July 2020 and was fully expended and was very successful. This program has assisted local Menifee businesses with working capital to support jobs, keep businesses open, maintain lease payments, and purchase PPE’s as required by state guidelines, in light of the recent closures and restrictions with operating at 100% capacity.
Pre-applications will be accepted from October 28, 2020 to November 11, 2020 at 4 p.m. Grants will be made available for a maximum of $5,000 (minimum of $1,500) for eligible expenses through a lottery process.
